Against the economic downturn that started in 2006 and following our instincts,   Green Way Express was incorporated in San Juan, Puerto Rico in January 16, 2008 to provide Parcel Delivery services covering the island of Puerto Rico using hybrid vehicles and a 100% green operation. We requested financing to the Government of Puerto Rico (Banco de Desarrollo Economico de Puerto Rico) through a program called "La Llave Para Tu Negocio (The Key to your Business)". After some negative responses, effort and perseverance, the first commercial loan was approved and Green Way Express was finally rolling. When asked to present the business plan, the vision of the company was so well accepted that it was selected to represent de program islandwide. The company was recognized with "La llave #1,000" and was given press coverage in local newspapers, television and radio. Like any other new business, Green Way Express started very small from a home garage in Caguas P.R. with one employee and one cargo van.

After the first year of operation, the story has been a different one. The clientelle continued to expand, so was our capacity to support them. GWex expanded its services from a parcel delivery company to a full Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider. Today, Green Way Express provides warehousing, inventory control, order fulfillment, distribution and express parcel delivery. 

GWex successfully manages products ranging from small parcels to big photocopier machines. We also provide back-office support to some clients in need of office infrastructure to run their businesses. During this period, Green Way has been recognized for its innovation in services by the Small  Business Technology Developement Centers (SBTDC)and the municipality of Caguas.

Today, Green Way Express operates from its main offices and warehouse strategically located in the northeast region of Puerto Rico, 15 minutes from San Juan and close to the main highways in the island. The company works under a "flexible capacity" business model, adjusting its fleet of vehicles and staff according to the demand. Working in alliance with SQS Warehouse (www.sqswarehouse.com), we are able to provide our customers with over 90,000 square feet of warehouse space with ambient storage and pharmaceutical grade temperature and humidity controlled warehousing meeting the most strict requirements of the FDA.

Green Way plans to continue its expansion in Puerto Rico by opening distribution hubs in strategic locations in the island as well as offering new and innovative services. By 2012 and continuing our commitment to a better planet, Green Way Express will be opening a new division to facilitate the messenger services in urban areas.
